E-invoice

Last updated: 2021-06-21

An E-invoice, also called an electronic invoice, is an invoice that is drawn up, sent, received and processed electronically. Instead of the invoice being received in paper format, it is received digitally, for example via internet banking or business systems.

Something that is important to keep in mind when it comes to e-invoices is that accounting information must be saved in the condition it is received in. For e-invoices, this means, in other words, that invoices received electronically must also be saved in electronic format.

According to the Accounting Act, however, it is possible to transfer information to another form as long as the original is saved for the first three years. In practice, this means that it is possible to print an e-invoice and archive it in paper format, as long as the electronic version remains for the first three years.
