Key figures

Last updated: 2021-06-21

Key figures are a term for a collection of measures used when valuing a company or its operations.

There are different types of key figures, both those that measure the company as a whole or that only measure separate parts.

These are examples of key figures:

  • Profit margin
  • Solidity
  • Equity

The key figures are not positive or negative in themselves, but need to be put in the right context. This is often done by comparing the key figures with, for example, the previous period or other companies. Those who are primarily interested in a company’s key figures are owners and investors.

Examples of areas of use for key figures are:

  • Internal decision basis
  • To set budget and operational goals
  • See how the company is doing
  • See how different parts of the business are performing
